Federal Mansion
06-6226

Parker Construction renovated the kitchen this turn of the century federal style mansion, as well as  converted part of an unfinished basement into a billiard room and wine cellar. Over 1,500 square feet of the lower level was recooped to create an expanded, newly configured kitchen, breakfast nook, butler’s pantry and a seating area. Using the aesthetics of the home, originally designed by Ogden Codman in 1910, who believed in relating a home’s decor to the architectural bones of the house, the new kitchen is open, elegant, and cleanly presented -- even the breakfast nook showcases a classically decorated domed ceiling.

The cellar renovations required special HVAC preparations. Because the basement was very humid and moist, Parker Construction installed ground water and rain mitigation, as well as a system of sump pumps with emergency back up power in the case of severe weather.
