Stand Up for Animals needed a new animal shelter to replace the aging, over-crowded and under equipped shelter owned by the Town of Westerly, RI. Working with the Town of Westerly and SUFA, Parker Construction and Kite Architects have built the most up-to-date, efficient, animal friendly, and people friendly shelter.
"Glenn,
I want to thank you for your continued commitment to Sufa and our shelter project. I knew a long time ago that we chose the right firm to build our dream.
I know that we would not be as far as we are today without your kind generosity. Your team has made me feel that we are among friends and your knowledge brings great peace of mind.
With many thanks and great respect,
Tom G."
This 7,000 square foot animal shelter, features 24 kennels with indoor/outdoor areas as well as stacks of cat condos. The cats also have a 19 by 10 foot outdoor play area. It also employs some green building technology. A critical design element of the new building is it's ability to serve as an emergency shelter during a hurricane or other natural disaster.
